Privacy Notice
Who we are. StartSorted is operated by Nathan as a sole trader in England, and is the data controller for personal information collected through this site. For any privacy question, contact [email protected]. As a data controller, StartSorted is completing its registration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
What we collect. When you complete the setup-fit form we collect the details you provide: your name, email, mobile number, the service your business provides, your current stage, target launch date, what's already in place, what feels unclear, your preferred level of help, and an indicative investment range. We also record that you consented to be contacted. If you go on to book a call, our booking tool shares your name, email and chosen time; if you become a client, our payment provider confirms your payment — we never see or store your card details.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis. We use this information to assess whether StartSorted is a good fit, to prepare for and hold your setup call, to follow up about your enquiry, and — if you become a client — to deliver your project. We rely on your consent when you submit the form, on our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you have started, and on performance of a contract once you become a client. We do not sell your data or use it for unrelated marketing.
Who processes your data. We use a small number of providers to run the business, each processing your data on our behalf under its own safeguards and only as needed: Formspree (form submissions), Calendly (call booking), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (site hosting and privacy-focused, cookieless analytics), and our email provider (service emails). We keep this list current.
How long we keep it. We keep personal data no longer than necessary. Where we have a legal or accounting obligation to retain records — for example HMRC record-keeping and potential contract claims under the Limitation Act 1980 — we keep them for up to six years after the end of our working relationship, then delete them securely. Enquiries that do not become projects are kept for a shorter period and then deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
Your rights. Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, object to processing, or request portability, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we'll action it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes. We may update this notice from time to time; material changes will be shown here with a revised date.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. Our site analytics use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused tool that does not use cookies or track you across sites. Aside from anything strictly needed to run the site securely, we use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies — so no cookie-consent banner is required. If we ever introduce a non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent first.
Terms
These terms cover use of this website and the enquiry process. Each project StartSorted delivers is governed by its specific written proposal and Client Agreement, which you accept before work begins and which take precedence over this page. In summary:
- The setup call is a short, no-obligation conversation to establish fit and the likely route.
- Scope, responsibilities, timings, price and payment schedule are confirmed in a fixed proposal before any work begins. Work is limited to the agreed scope; anything additional is scoped and quoted separately.
- Payment is structured by service: Sort My Start is payable in full to begin; StartSorted Setup is split 50% to begin and 50% before handover; Launch & Grow is split across milestones (50% / 25% / 25%). Payments are due within three working days of the relevant invoice or milestone, in GBP.
- Intellectual property in what we create for you transfers to you on full and final payment; until then it remains ours. You grant us a licence to use your brand assets to deliver the work. We may reference a completed project as an anonymised case study unless you object in writing within 14 days of completion.
- We make no guarantee of specific revenue, bookings, rankings or outcomes. StartSorted builds and tests the setup; results depend on your own actions, the market and third-party tools outside our control.
- Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid, and we are not liable for lost income or profit, your business decisions, third-party platforms, or indirect or consequential losses. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Cancellation
You can reschedule or cancel a setup call at any time before it takes place — just reply to your confirmation.
For a booked project, the first payment is a committed deposit, and the full cancellation terms are set out in your Client Agreement. In summary: if you cancel before the intake process begins, a 50% administration fee applies and the remainder is refunded within 14 days; if you cancel after intake has begun but before delivery starts, the first payment is retained; and once delivery has commenced, no refund is due. If we are unable to deliver, you will be offered a new date or a full refund. Where you deal with us as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Accessibility
StartSorted aims to meet WCAG 2.2 AA across this site — including logical headings, labelled form fields, visible keyboard focus, sufficient colour contrast and support for reduced-motion settings. If anything here is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, email [email protected] and we'll help and put it right.
